A message from the president

Kyoko Hida

It is my great honor to serve as President of The Japanese Vascular Biology and Medicine Organization (JVBMO) from April 2026 for a two-year term.
First, I would like to express my sincere respect and gratitude to the past presidents and all members who have contributed to the development of our society.
Our society has long fostered strong collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, producing high-quality scientific achievements and nurturing active early-career researchers. Building on these strengths, we will continue to advance vascular biology and contribute to global scientific progress and human health.

As Dr. Osler said, “A man is as old as his arteries,” highlighting the fundamental role of vascular health in maintaining overall well-being. Advances in vascular biology are directly linked to healthy longevity, and the role of our society will become increasingly important.
As the first female President of this society, I will build upon my experience as Vice President and my involvement in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to create a more inclusive and accessible environment for all members.
We will continue to support early-career researchers and promote new opportunities for scientific exchange across disciplines and generations.
Strengthening international collaboration is a key priority. The International Vascular Biology Meeting (IVBM) in Australia, along with joint symposia with related societies, provides important opportunities to share our research globally and deepen scientific partnerships across borders.
In managing the society, I will work closely with Vice Presidents Drs. Nakaoka, Fukuhara, and Matoba, together with our committees, to ensure transparent and dynamic governance.
Despite the challenges in the research environment, I look forward to working with all members to further develop our society as a vibrant platform for scientific exchange.
Thank you for your continued support.

April 2026
